The Dream Job & 100% Pwning – 3 Weeks Later

I’ve had a few notable things happen since my last post. Lets start with the job.

The “Dream” Job

I really need to update… Maybe this weekend. πŸ™‚ Today is the beginning of my third week going to sales meetings solo. The way I feel about it today versus week one is practically night and day. During week one I can remember AT LEAST 3 times where I decided to quit. At times I had no idea what to do (trying to sell products I had limited training on), other times I had practically no break in between appointments (it’s not fun spending 3.5 hours with one potential client, not getting a sale, then having 30 minutes to get to your next appoint and running on only a 5 piece spicy Chicken nuggets from Wendy’s…) JUST three times was actually pretty good considering my workweek runs from Monday to Saturday.

I felt BEAT DOWN on Saturday, then I recovered on Sunday and was ready to rock and roll again the next Monday. I can’t remember what happened this past Monday, Tuesday I got a split commission, Wednesday I got my first sale on my own (score!) and Thursday was another split commission. I went from being like F*@! this job in week one to I think I can do this in week two.

Today was the start of week three and, although I didn’t get the sale today, I feel really good. I talked to a couple of the owners about some marketing ideas I have and they’re totally cool with me experimenting They have had ZERO success with generating leads from the web and told me that if I figure that out I can get paid for that.

Question: Is this my dream job?

Answer: Yes. Here’s what I had on my online resume:

My dream job is:

  • entry level
  • performance based
  • located in Milwaukee or allows me to live here

I want to master the art of sales, marketing and business and work somewhere that would facilitate growth in those areas.

Be careful what you wish for? πŸ˜‰ I’m getting EXACTLY what I asked for. The job is definitely entry level, it’s totally performance based (100% commission working on a draw so I get regular paychecks) and it allows me to live in Milwaukee. On top of all of that I’m in the process of master sales, marketing AND business. The owners are very open about how things are run. It’s like I’m being paid to go to school. πŸ˜€

100% Pwning

I’m still pretty far away from being a “masterful salesperson” but I’m definitely making progress. I’ve gotten a lot of book recommendations for sales (I ordered them and they should be here tomorrow). I’ve been refining what I was taught during training and I’ve successfully done one sale now, now I just have to do it again… and again… and again.

Now I plan on sharing my pwning success, failures and stories on the blog. I’m also reading again and might as well share the insight I glean from the books I’m going through.

New Videos And Changes To This Blog

I made a couple new videos since I last posted. The first video was a response to a video I made shortly after being discharged from the mental hospital after my manic episode.

The second video was shot and uploaded the day after my first sale. In that video I take you through my day and do a drunken ramble at the end.

The only changes to this blog that are coming is me… “unleashing the beast” so to speak. I’m in my car for 2-4 hours a day mostly listening to NPR now and… I have to respond to some of the stuff I hear about politics, government, education, etc. so that’s what I’m going to do. πŸ™‚
