Every Company Should Aspire To Make The World More Awesome

I had this thought in the shower just now.

Too many companies are in the business of JUST making money. I think a lot of (if not most) businesses are started with “Lets make the planet more awesome,” but then things fall apart down the line. The leader dies and is replaced by someone who… isn’t as awesome. It gets bought by a bigger fish that’s… not about the awesome.

One day, I’m going to figure out how to mathematically calculate the awesomeness of a company and I’ll create the index of awesome (the name may change down the line 😉 ).

If people only spent their money with companies that were about the awesome… Things would get more awesome really fast. 🙂

Let me know if you figure that one out. Actually, I think most companies start out with a goal of making money. Fewer start out with ideals. I think.

In MBA speak, look up the ongoing dialog of stakeholder value vs. shareholder value.

You should find some interesting perspective there.
