Building a City of Innovation
March 6th, 2009 § 2 Comments
I just saw [a Tweet from hypnagogic] that read:
Let’s put Milwaukee on the innovation heat map: http://tinyurl.com/cbkk3w
From [the linked article]:
McKinsey has partnered with the World Economic Forum to create an “Innovation Heat Map,” by identifying factors that are common to successful innovation hubs. As part of this effort, we have examined the evolution of hundreds of such clusters around the world and analyzed over 700 variables, including those driving innovation (business environment, government and regulation, human capital, infrastructure, and local demand) along with proxies for innovation output (for example, economic value added, journal publications, patent applications) to identify trends among the success stories.
Well I quick threw those same 700 variables into my BLAZING Microsoft Vista Powered 2 Gig of RAM MONSTER and I was actually able to find Milwaukee on that map AND see the city’s 2010 projection (gotta love the awesome power of computers!)
Microsoft Vista Powered Map Enhancements:

Computing power is so awesome… I’m speechless.

[Tony Robbin's TEDTalk (Some badassness for ya!)]
For the record, the stuff I’m sharing here is stuff I’ve only recently become comfortable making more public. I find it interesting how public people think I am because I put videos on YouTube and seem expose myself all over the place. Oh the secrets I have… lol
Note: I apologize for any grammatical errors/spelling mistakes that might make things harder to understand. I wrote this post last night at around 4:30 because I couldn’t sleep due to the pain I was experiencing from a toothache ([I blogged about that too!] lol)…
Reality Fields
Above, there is a video and a picture. If you watch the video I attempt explain what they’re all about. If you keep reading I’ll do the same thing. « Read the rest of this entry »
Excruciating Pain And miltownmom Comments
March 6th, 2009 § 2 Comments
This is going to be a quick post. First off, mom left a comment for each one of my latest posts. This blog started as a way to keep mom up to date and a month or so ago, I decided to bring the focus back to that. Reading the comments made me realize why. No offense to anyone, but I really like comments from Mom.
For example on a post I did a couple days ago [Every Company Should Aspire To Make The World More Awesome] Mom had this to say:
Let me know if you figure that one out. Actually, I think most companies start out with a goal of making money. Fewer start out with ideals. I think.
Before I respond to that comment I’d like to say that while so many people online try to get a ton of views, comments, subscribers and whatnot, I’m pretty sure most people would only really need one or two REAL readers to make blogging worth while (could be your mom, a mentor, a friend, etc.) I think a lot of people miss that point.
Anyhow, back to Mom’s comment. « Read the rest of this entry »
March Spreenkler Review
March 5th, 2009 § 2 Comments
Warning: This post is rife with smileys. Deal with it.
I want to start with saying that it has been my intention to do reviews of the various social gatherings I attend for a long time. I created the web presence [SocialMilwaukee] for this very purpose. That’s going to be where I grow my self as a consultant on what I like to call web 3.0. But enough of that. On to the meeting!
Note: [Steve's] slides for the meeting are available [here (Spreenkler Agenda].
The Mingling
It’s been a long time since I got to a Spreenkler early, but I think the lure of free pizza and beer did the trick.
The pizza was provided by [Transfer Pizzeria/Cafe] (Note to Transfer: You’re not even on the first page when googling “transfer pizza”?! Fix that!
). The pizza provided was EXCELLENT. Funny thing is the last time my mom was in town last month she took me there and then I took my girlfriend a couple weeks later.
A very decent crowd showed up before the meeting started and some very nice mingling went down. Once everyone got some food in their bellies, liquored up a bit and caught up with old and new friends, it was time for the meeting to start.
The Meeting
I was going to attempt to do a “play-by-play” of events but… I’m going to start with something that irked me first. « Read the rest of this entry »
