My Projects: Time for a Break

September 30th, 2008 § 6 Comments

I didn’t even finish the first sentence of this post and… I got sucked into a project. “Operation: Make Blog Cooler” is a CONSTANT operation that never stops. I’ll tell you what that first sentence was going to be, then I’ll tell you what happened. OK, start over…

Take #2

A lot of people wonder how I juggle so many projects at the same time (note: I didn’t even finish this sentence). I’ve investigated a lot of systems for personal project management, but none has bested [My Notebook].

OK, what happened in the middle of that first sentence was “Oh yeah! I gotta find a link to my old post about my notebook.” When I searched this blog I realized that I never imported my posts from [my old blog]. I HAD to do that! So I started the import process. After importing the posts the blog looked really funny because it imported a bunch of pages too (I’ve removed them already). And, now that I had all of my posts, I thought to myself “How can I go back in time and look at them?” so I had to hook up the archive (which you can see on the right). And after messing with the archive, I thought I might as well mess with some of the other widgets and now you have a few more things over there on the right.

All that from a half of one sentence. :P

My Personal Project Management Style

I really didn’t say anything about how I manage all of my projects. It’s pretty simple really. What I do is capture EVERYTHING (really, as much as I can) into my journal. « Read the rest of this entry »

How to Use the Web to Transform the World

September 28th, 2008 § 8 Comments

This long ass blog post is all about getting you to check out the new eBook by Ralph Benko: ["The Websters' Dictionary: How to Use the Web to Transform the World"] It’s free and a very good read. [Go to the site to download it.] Now back to your regularly scheduled blogging…

There is no question that the web/Internet is transforming our world. That is obvious to anyone with even just a limited understanding of the web. As proof, I’m going to give 7 examples/experiences of how the web has transformed the (and my) world. « Read the rest of this entry »

Why Are You Wasting Your Time On This Stuff?

This is why:

Larry Lessig: How Creativity is being strangled by the law

The title of this post was miltownmom’s response to the [Oprah vs Over 9000 Penises] post I wrote yesterday. Actually, here’s the full quote:

Why are you wasting your time on this stuff? Don’t you have better things to do?

I watched the above video last night and I think it is the perfect response to that statement. I also think it will help you better understand why I am “wasting my time on this stuff.” I won’t beat around the bush. What has been done with Oprah’s comment is art. Art that is AWESOME to me, but totally stupid to the untrained eye. Let me give you a reverse example. « Read the rest of this entry »

Over 9,000 Penises and They’re All Raping Children

September 22nd, 2008 § 11 Comments

lol

Disclaimer for miltownmom and other moms and old folk that don’t “get it”:

I thought I’d do a little bit of homework (witch equals a TON more than Oprah did) about pedophiles on the internet. I found one article that seemed pretty well put together. Here it is (I hope you don’t need to register) ["On the Web, Pedophiles Extend Their Reach" - New York Times] I’ll keep it short. The internet isn’t good or bad. It’s a tool. Just like guns, knives and all those kinds of things. Some people are going to use this tool to organize their presidential campaign, others will use it to share information about messing with kids, and still others will use it to cause havoc for fun and laughs. I think it’s important to know and understand all of these things, act when necessary and laugh when it’s funny. Oprah saying “Over 9,000 Penises” is SUPER funny.

This is a good follow up to that [Brack Roll'd] post. I also talked about this in [my most recent vlog.]

You might be asking yourself “Why are you laughing at over 9,000 penises raping children? That isn’t funny” « Read the rest of this entry »

Vlog #32: Cleaning Before and After + Updates

September 18th, 2008 § 2 Comments

Ha haaaa! I just figured out how to have videos post to the blog from Youtube. I would probably write more than just this, but I’m on the phone and chatting with someone on Skype at the moment.

[Here's the link to the MyDeadXbox Youtube channel]

Note: It didn’t title the blog post properly, or add tags, OR categorize it… It’s still pretty cool though.

Where Am I?
