“I Commit to Being Rich”

That’s right. Those of you reading this now will get to witness a transformation to rich. By me. I already had a good feeling about my decision to “sell out to the man”, but now I have been handed down a book that’s helping me rework my thinking a tad, and feel good about the hype. Examlpe, instead of saying “selling out to the man” (which implies negativity) I am now “commiting to being rich”, which I for some reason would have in the past associated with being bad (for some reason), but no more.
The name of the book is “Think Rich to Get Rich – Secrets of the Millionaire Mind.” I’m about half way through it now, and it’s easily worth spending the time to borrow the book and read, and just as easily worth it as a buy (assuming you’re going to put what you learned to work for you.)
I had a notebook handy while reading (something I’ve gotten in the habit of doing, if even just to jot down random thoughts as they clutter my head while reading.) Anyway, I wrote down some of the spots where the book slapped me in the face. I’ll share a few:
There are a few spots in the book where the author gets you to think about things in the past that shape your current view of money. Two things I jotted down was “Money is Evil”, I’ve had that view for a long time. Another was the fact that every Christmas at my Grandmother’s house when it was time to open present I had to be careful not to rip the paper so it could be saved for next year. The reason that popped in my head is because he used an older gentleman’s story about growing up during the depression and how that can affect you. Then I realized that even I had an experience directly related to the great depression that molded the way I looked at money.
Here’s some simple “sage” advice he gave in one section of the book.
If you want to get rich focus on making, keeping and investing your money.
It’s a very simple statement, but if a person meditated on that alone great things would happen.
He also pointed out how people that tell themselves (and anyone that’ll listen) “Money doesn’t matter.” are always broke. The money doesn’t matter line is one I’ll say I said often. It was something I’d battle with. Thinking to myself “Money doesn’t matter” then five minutes later dreaming about my private island. Those two things don’t mix and one has to die. Money does matter!
My blog will now feature gems of knowledge from the different books I read and the progress I’ve been making with them. For example I think I will also share parts each month (maybe just the expenses) of my monthly money tracking data that I learned from the book “Your Money or Your Life.”
Getting rich will now be my new BJJ. I’ll still be very commited to BJJ, but I’ll leave most of that commitment in class, and time outside of class will be saved for downing beers and getting rich.
I’ll be in a beer commercial tomorrow so I’ll probably have plenty of time to finish the book. Maybe I’ll write a little closing piece about it.
Oh, and here’s a funny movie I just put on Youtube.com. I call it “看過電影之後就知道我的中文比你好” (loose translation “After you see this movie, you’ll know my Chinese is better than yours”.)

Here’s the book I speak of one more time:
Dead Rising for Xbox 360

This game is excellent. I just beat it today… But did I? After you beat it, you keep playing and actually have stuff to do. Not just playing to kill zombies (which would actually stay fun for a long time I imagine.) Also, there are a ton of side missions to do, so if you’re OCD like me you’ll want to start news games over and over again until you perfect it. I’ve been through about 10 360 games so far and I’l say this one a GRAW are the best out right now.
2 Thumbs + an extra unmentionable digit up.
Let the selling out begin!
Note: The game really is excellent. If you have a 360 and like smashing on Zombies (or just like good games) get this one… NOW!
Selling Out to the Man

I’ve mostly avoided making money online for some reason. What that is is, I’m not sure. Maybe it has something to do with my aversion towards money, or maybe it’s because it seemed like too much trouble to figure out. What ever it was, that reason is gone now.
I the past, I never bothered to check my webstats (how many visitors I get to the blog, etc.) I just checked it out of couriousity (and my new found love of the man) and saw that I’m up, way up. My blog got some attention from [an old post I made about Betel Nut Beauties (the toy)] I knew I would have high views from that, and I did. The strange thing (or maybe not so) is that ever since then it’s been up and has stayed up. I’m not sure exactly what that means. Probably one of those things that just happens (you get links from one place, then it keeps folding out etc.) Anyhoo, I’m going to take some time out of my not-busy-at-all schedule and clean this blog up and get it pimped out with Google Adsense thinks all over and get my 50 cents a day.
I’ve also decided that some sites that I have sitting around that I’ve wanted to do something with I finally will. I’ll get that HappyBirthdayBitch.com thing flowing again (one of these days), get some of my other funnier domains crackin’ and see what I can do.
We’ll see how long I stay excited about my interest in coquering the Internet and making being online one of my many part-time jobs (it is already, I just don’t get paid for it yet.)
Stay tuned for a post about me getting 3 gold metals last weekend and a bunch of movies to go with it. I’ve been waiting to get some videos and I should get them tomorrow, I’ll then do a little recap of the event (a BJJ tournament.)
Let’s See…

Maybe there’s so much going on right now that my mind is blank…
I went to a Salsa class last week and Salsaed a bit this week. That Salsa stuff is fun. I’ve noticed that I’m finally starting to grow out of Break Dancing (though the urge still strikes every now and then.) The kind of places I need to go to break dance aren’t very appealing to me anymore.
I’ve jumped back on the “Your Money or You Life” train again. This will be my third attempt at doing the money tracking part (tracking every you spend down to the penny.) The longest I’ve lasted is about a month and a half. I feel confident that I’ll last longer this time. I learned a lot of (personal) tips and tricks from the last two attempts.
Last week I also started working on some of that “Getting Things Done” stuff again. This time in the form of a program for the Mac. The program is basically a list manager and runs a script to make it GTD friendly. You can read about that here: http://kinkless.com/
This morning I found an alternative to Youtube called Revver ( http://www.revver.com/ .) It’s cool because the uploader keeps the copyright and might make a little money from the advertising. I think I’ll give them a shot.
I had a full week off of all work last week. I got a lot of things done around the house. One of those things was piling up all the junk I want to get rid of:

Tomorrow will be the first day of the BJJ tournament. Since we don’t have any heavy weight bluebelts in our clube I decided to fight in the heaviest weight category (I’m 84kg right now, the heaviest starts at 90kg.) That should make things interesting.
I was having problems with my comment filter, so I turned comments off for a bit. They’re coming back on now.
That’s enough for now.
