Throwing Safety to the Wind

So up until today I’ve been pretty good about driving. Always wearing proper shoes, wearing my good helmet, telling myself I’d bus or taxi in the rain. Well today it rained and all that thinking went to hell.
Good helmet got all wet so I wore my 100NT one, ditched the shoes for scootin’ sandals, figured I’d brave the rain without any kind of rain coat or anything.
Today’s scooting around was fine until right near the end. It was like God let me test out the different levels of rain today. The light drizzle, gray sky, and full out down pour. I got to taste that one within 3 blocks of my house and learned that that’s not one to mess with. Visibility went down to like 10% (the glasses didn’t help). I’ll be doing something to correct that rain driving situation soon.
I’m writing this late, so I won’t talk about much. The Deuce thing went good. Got to dance and strip in front of a bunch of news cameras. Didn’t get any special pictures of me, but I go a shot of what the window I was dancing in looked like. [See the flickr] (which is down at the moment
).
On that note, I think I should take myself down for a moment.
Nighty night.

Failed!

But I was successful in finding out that it’s OK to drive there by yourself, fail and drive home
. I failed on the first part where you drive in between these lines for over 7 seconds (15M worth). I think it’s definitely something that needs to be practiced before going and I think it’s definitely something that is about as useful as a useless tree (the test that is). It was harder than I imagined though.
Adding some photos to the flickr, so there’ll be something new to see there soon.
Tomorrow I do my Deuce Bigelow dancing thing. I’ll go ahead and post the time and place (don’t know if it’ll be open to the public though):
SUNRISE Department Store, 13:40PM.
(No.15, Fuxing N. Rd., Taipei.)
中興百貨 北市復興北路15號
Ah yes… good times to be had.
Here are some recently uploaded photos. Over time I’ll figure out the best way to keep’m all organized with sets and tags and stuff.

Ok, tired of writing. I’ll be sure to be back tomorrow with the Deucy update.
Wish Me Luck

In a few minutes I’ll be off to get my license (try to anyway). When I come back I’ll be adding some pictures and making random comments about things.
I plan on starting up a Taichi class for anyone interested. I’ll be teaching “Wang Style” Taichi. You’ll hear more about this later I’m sure.
Let’s see what happens with the license thing…

Moon Festival

Before I get into Today’s Moon Festival, I’d just like to say I partook in 3 sporting “events” yesterday. I jujitsued in the morn, swam in the afternoon and golfed at night. Not a bad Saturday.
Today I got up early, messed about on the computer, met Tash for a Taiji lunch and scuttled off to play settlers (@GameClub). The Taiji lunch was nice. I like talking Taiji and haven’t had anyone to talk to about it in a long time. I think I’ll be Tajiing on the regular again soon. I’d have to say it’s one of my most favorite pastimes.
Game Club was nice. A good game of Settlers and all. Jefferson took the game for a third time in a row. Afterward I boogied over to the fams house for Moon Festival BBQ.
That was a good time. Ate food and play with my niece. She battle my wife a few times with Si4 (Shi4). It went:
Niece: Si ah!
Wife: Shi!
Niece: Si ah!
Wife: Shi!
Niece: Si ah!
I got a movie, but am too lazy/tired to post it now. It was funny watching a battle between “Taiwanese Mandarin” and Mandarin. I think it has more to do with her being so young and not really being able to distinguish, make the sounds than a “Taiwanese accent.” Whatever the reason, it was pretty funny in the end.
I just upgraded to a Flickr Pro account while typing this. They pulled the ol’ “You can try some for free
” trick on me and it worked like plutonium powered DeLorean. It has made it really easy for me to share my photos, so I aint mad at’m.
Speaking of photos, here’s today set from the Moon Festival. It’s mostly me playing with the setting on my camera while my niece playing with a sparkler. I posted the ones I though came out better.
Well, a long working day ahead of me tomorrow. I best get to sleepy sleep.
Have a good one.

Well, not quite. But I will say it didn’t take me long to drop that cruising along stuff. I don’t weave in and out of traffic like some people do, but I’m not always at the back of the pack anymore. It still feels pretty safe, but I’m sure I’ll see (or feel) something one day. I’ll just always be super vigilant not to. There are also a lot of dickweed drivers out there. I’m not talking about the ones that break rules (running reds and stuff) either. I’m just talking about people who lack driving skill. They’re on scooters and in the car, but ah well.
For those of you who drive a scooter it probably isn’t much of a surprise (because you’ve probably seen one already), but here’s a picture of a wheel chair scooter. I thought i was pretty cool. I whipped out the camera really quick at a light and snapped a picture yesterday.
Wow, so many things. I need to update everyday. I just developed a new technique to make sure I update everyday (or help anyway). I took Forumosa.com out of my list of Tabs that open automatically when I start Firefox. That way I’ll do my logging and email stuff first (well, I always do email first).
I got my first paying gig as an agent (well, an agent that finds English teachers) yesterday. If this materializes it could be the official start to a new business of sorts. I’m really surprised at what a school is willing to pay for the service (especially since so many agents do such a bad job). I won’t say what I’m charging, but I will say that the high end of what agents charge is 30-40,000NT (I’ve heard this from schools and agents, so I know it’s true). If I could place one person at 40,000NT a month, I’d be making more than I did in my morning job lol >..<
There will be some photos of that to follow. Here are some I took when I went to the BVI office.
Jujitsu was good today. There was a Japanese guy there with a cool Japanese phone. I should have took a close-up of it. Those pics will be on the Flickr too.
Uh… Today I’m going swimming and afterward Jefferson and I will peep the Cat Cafe. I think that’s enough for today.
