OOOPS!!!

Today, while trying to get Chinese input to work in Linux, I installed something that removed a bunch of files and made Linux unusable.

No big deal, all my files are still there. I find out I can safely install over it, I just have to check an option that says “don’t format (delete) my stuff”. Checked and good to go (or am I…) After rebooting I find that none of my stuff is there. WTF?!? Ah! I realized that even though it didn’t delete my stuff, I had the system files install onto the old home directory (my files).

Oh pooh. Well, now I’m all set back up and THE FIRST thing I did was get a system for backing up setup. I used this guide (link) to set things up and all went peachy.

Sometimes learning the hard way is the only way, or the best way, or something.

A Typhoon’s coming tomorrow or Monday. I might try to get some pictures of that. High on my list of things to do is get all these pictures sorted out and post for all to see.

Reminds me, I went to Snake Alley with Frost yesterday and took a bunch of pictures, some were pretty cool.

After a healthy veggie dinner I was strolling home and went past the local Ganster run gambling place (like I often do), when this guy sitting on a parked scooter goes “Laowai! Laowai! Laowai!” I gave him a looked and laughed. Then he started mumbling something so I turned around to see what he was talking about.

He went on to tell me about that commercial for that food where in the commercial they go “Laowai! Laowai! Laowai!” and he was just mimicking that commercial (for some reason unknown to me). I laughed even harder the second time and went on my way.

That’s my interesting story for the day.

I’m sure everyone feels like this sometimes (not too often though I hope). I had a big push to finish up a lot of things I started that lasted a long time, but most of those things went right to the edge of completion.

Instead of list a bunch of reasons as to why they didn’t get done (which might feel nice), I’m going to make a list of those things and get crackin’ on finishing them up.

Writing my blog just made me remember I haven’t had my weekly Sunday sit down love session with my notebook (pen and paper one). That love session consists of my listing the things I want to get done and crossing off things from the week before. I’ve just realized how important those sessions are to me, not having them makes me feel off. I’ll be sure to have one this weekend and pack my notebook for the trip coming up at the end of the month.

Things to get done:

• Put the FINAL touches on my “office”, that means buying a few more items for organization.
• Finish up organizing my Rec. Room.
• Make my mom’s website look a lot prettier and teach her how to manage it.
• Work with Ax on his website.
• Totally redo my personal website.
• Finish up all the sites I have.
• Get a photo gallery and organize my picture (digital and non).
• There are some things I want to do about my hosting situation that shouldn’t wait.
• Clean off my wall of Post-It notes.

There, I think you get the picture. I’m going to get started on these things right NOW!

I’ve been spending a lot of time messing with different websites and reading books lately. Assuming I don’t get another job before the end of this month I’ll have a month off (which is a good thing). If the big changes don’t come before then they should come during next month. Big changes being the look and functionality of the site.

The 2 sites I’ve been working on most recently are:
www.taiwanbjj.org (now it’s using Textpattern, and it isn’t done yet )

www.betelnutbeauties.com (this will be fun ).

The other big thing is I bought a new digital camera. I went with the Canon Digital IXUS40 and so far I’m VERY pleased with it. It gets 2 thumbs up from me.

I’ll be off to Tainan in the morning. I went out and got me a new camera today. The Canon Digital IXUS40. It’s a lot nicer than the old Sony Cyber Shot I had before, plus the memory card is 64 times bigger than the one I had before.

When I come back from Tainan I’ll work on setting up the photo blog and photo gallery so you guys’ll get to see some stuff. I going to Tainan with my buddy Adoa.
