I Have No Strings to Hold Me Down

March 31st, 2005 § Leave a Comment

This post is coming from I-Ping’s laptop via WiFi. Since I got paid today I went out and got a wireless router and set that up. The router somehow magically fixed the Internet on my Linux box, so I’m happy about that as well.

Mom and Dave had a pretty lazy day today. We’re were going to go to the musem, but ended up staying at home watching Kung Fu movies. We did go out to the Brother hotel for a nice dinner though. Frost was chillin at the crib for a while after work since he stopped in to pick up his payday money.

I using IE (Internet Explorer) right now and am not liking it. I probably won’t get orginized enough to post any pictures while my mom is here, but we’ll see. Mom brought me a bunch of pictures I need to scan and upload into an album as well, so there’ll be a lot of pictures on the way.

Enough of this IE crap.

Hualian Ho!

March 28th, 2005 § 1 Comment

We’re going to be going on a 3 day trip to Hualian soon. You might not hear from me for a few days. When mom leaves I’ll get all the pictures and stories setup.

Miltownmom Lands!

March 26th, 2005 § 1 Comment

It’s real late and I need to go to bed, but I thought I’d leave a quick one saying my mom arrived. I met up with Frost for a bit today. His Tekken skills have increased substantially since our last meeting. He also showed me a little “movie” he made staring me and him. You can see by visiting his website and clicking on his little icon (he swears that the similarities are purely coincidental).

More tomorrow, sleep now.

The MCSE that Couldn’t

March 24th, 2005 § Leave a Comment

You ever hear of that MCSE that couldn’t network two computers? Did you ever wonder who he was? Well, now you know :P (you’re reading his words). Even though I didn’t get my computer desk yet, I decided to setup the second computer today. There was one thing I wanted to get off of it before I installed Linux, so I decided to network the two of them (since I’ve never done that before and I figured I’d save a CD). I had all the cables I needed and a hub, everything was hooked up, now it was time to get them properly configured.

I thought the Microsoft Networking Wizard would wave his wand and make magical things happen, but I would end up being really disappointed. After messing with the “Wizard” for about 30 minutes I had to go (but luckily got a phone call from a friend with a tip). The tip was to manually set the IPs, so as soon as I got home I did that. After getting them both setup I tried Pinging them (from each machine). SUCCESS!! I ran the Wizard one more time for good measure and everything was up and running. Copied the file I wanted and was all good. After that I finished doing the telephone tests for the kids I missed yesterday.

Right now I’m installing Fedora (Core 3) and when it’s done I’m, going to setup the desk I bought (I ran to the store and picked it up in between posting) and get this room clean.

I haven’t pulled the pics off my camera since Sunday. Here’s a couple.

High Geekery

You can never have enough laptops.

BLAAAAA!

This is Angel making her scary face.

I began my touch typing mastery practice again yesterday and it’s going quite well. I miss Dvorak and will probably switch to it again after using QWERTY for a while. Fedora’s done and it’s time for dinner. I’ll get a picture of my new geeked out setup when it’s done.

If you’re interested in becoming a touch typing master as well there’s a really nice free program for it. [GNU Typist]

Fotocom

As to not waste to much time thinking of a title for this post I wrote the first thing my eyes laid sight on (or something). Actually, that works out rather well. Fotocom is the maker of that TV tuner/video capture card I installed not so long ago. I put it to use today to make a little movie of me playing Tekken. This movie shows me (and you) what JOBNUMBER kept describing to me. Basically he was telling me how easy it is to get to Tekken Lord status in arcade mode (with a certain character).

In arcade mode you fight stronger and stronger people until you reach the highest ranking “Tekken Lord”, every once in a while you have an opportunity to level up. The movie your going to see is me kicking the crap out of a character ranked “Tekken Lord” using some Heihachi cheese.

I thought I’d make a movie to A: verify the cheese JOBNUMBER spoke of and B: Let people see what the hell I’ve been talking about the last week or so (Tekken wise).

[Heihachi Cheese] Aprox. 1MB (No hot chicks were harmed in the filming of this movie)

I started the CSS book which means that soon you’ll start to see some aesthetic changes around this place (hopefully for the better). I’ll also be going to Ikea later on today to get a desk for the second computer (and finally get my “office” back in order). And as I type this Fedora is getting downloaded on to my computer (I’m going to install that on the second PC).

That’s about it. My ma will be here this Friday and I’m taking 3 days off of work next week to go to Hualian. That should be a nice little vacation. When my room is back in order I’ll get a pic of the new setup.
