Today was a holiday (228) so I got the day off. It’s every February 28th (hence 228). It’s a day to look back and reflect on some old atrocities that happened once in the way back when. I’m not real up on what all happened, but if you’d like to know more I’ve provided a link to the wikipedia entry about it.
After getting up I headed straight to the Chinese medicine doctor. When I was all done with my treatment I met adoa at Taipei Main station (kind of like downtown) to do some shopping for a new capture card (the one he bought didn’t work good). After he picked one out (we couldn’t find the one I bought) we ate lunch and went our separate ways.
When I got home I played a bunch of Ninja Gaiden and worked on getting my computer ready for it’s transformation. I ordered the Acronis Imaging program, but I won’t get the registration number for a day or so, but I did download the demo and try imaging up a 2 GB partition I have.
I was imaged and restored very smoothly. Also, the 1.2 GB that it took up was compressed to about 700 MB. I thought that was a nice display of power. So, I read more about partitioning and imaging and since I’m going to be formatting my C: drive (or primary partition) I was think I could format the whole darn thing (after backing up all my data) and do a dual boot with one or 2 of the Linux distrobutions. So now I think I’m going to make 3 system partitions and 2 or 3 data partitions. At least 2 datapartions because (if I read everything right) I think I’ll want one NTFS partition and one Fat32 (or vFat) partition. I’d use the vFat partition to share files between Linux and Windows. I’ve been waiting until I had a spare computer around to install Linux, but I guess there’s no reason to. I’m going to burn this Knoppix disk and see how well it boots up. If/When I do all this, I’m going to write everything down and make a good walk through. The one’s I’ve found suck and this seems like something people would like to do. But I did find a lot of good information on various message boards.
Now I’m about to get me some dinner and play some Strikers.
Tea+Go+Beer+Pizza+Skates=A Nice Sunday

It’s late again and I’m tired from putting a little too much boogie in my woogie. The last thing that was on my list of events for today was rollerskating. Felt like I was in middle school again. When I started skating I was a little more wobbly than I wanted to be. I thought maybe I had some bum skates, but, fives biffs (spills, falls), a skinned elbow, and a brushed bum and knee later I had my wings… err, wheels back. I was jamming like no tomorrow. Felt good too.
Early in the morning I played Ninja Gaiden. I wish I could objectively review the game, but, damn it feels good to be a Ninja. I think the game is dope (fresh, fly, etc. etc.), but I have a feeling the Ninjaness is fogging my view. While I was playing I spidered a couple of websites (downloaded copies). When I finished it was out the door to game club.
I didn’t really do any game clubbing today. Me and Elliot snuck off to a little tea shop to play some Go. We had some weird Tibetan tea and snacks while I taught him the basics of Go (which is about all I know). When the time drew near to go to Alleycat’s (for free beer) we packed up the game. Since there was a slight drizzle and there were to of us, we split a cab.
Alleycat’s was a good time as well. We had some beers, talked to some people, and ate pizza. After all of that stuff we left and ended up at the place I told you about in paragraph one. One thing to add is that this roller rink was on the 6th floor of the building I frequent to play Dance Dance Revolution and I never even knew about it. It’s nice to know it’s there. I just may be back. And with that…
Wait wait a joke.
Why did Snoop Dog have an umbrella?
Answer tomorrow, or just google it. Or if you know I suppose you could post the answer in the comments. That might get me to try a little harder.
The Tea house.
That big white bowl on the right had the weird Tibetan tea. The Go board is so small because we were playing begin style (not that most people would notice).

Here’s a shot of a little shrine thing we were sitting next to.

I tried to get a shot that showed where that thing was in comparison to us.

The entrance to the tea place.
Roller Boogie!

There weren’t that many people when we got there.

But more showed up.

Head shot! (CS player might think that’s kind of funny, or not).
Cool Straws

I thought these straws were cool, so I took a picture. Hence the title “Cool Straws”.
Almost forgot. Those cool straws were shot at a place were I bought a cool ass grapefruit juice. It was fresh squeezed and consisted of about 2.5 grapefruits. It was definitely worth writing home about.
Now I best sleep.

A parent’s primer to computer slang
From Site:
While it’s important to respect your children’s privacy, understanding what your teenager’s online slang means and how to decipher it is important as you help guide their online experience. While it has many nicknames, information-age slang is commonly referred to as leetspeek, or leet for short. Leet (a vernacular form of “elite”) is a specific type of computer slang where a user replaces regular letters with other keyboard characters to form words phonetically—creating the digital equivalent of pig Latin with a twist of hieroglyphics.
A lot people may have seen this already, but I wanted to make sure me mommy saw it. The funniest thin about this is that it’s true. Reading this can prevent you from gettig o\/\/3Ned3|>.
Up Late Again

I’m up late again messing about on the net. I think I’ll slumber directly after posting and maybe I’ll dig up a picture to post since I didn’t post one yesterday (it won’t be something I took today).
Today I got up late because I went to bed late, then I got to work on finishing my back up saga (I’m trying to figure out a good way to maintain health backups of my hard drive). While researching I also Played Ninja Gaiden. I’d switch back and forth. Then I had a meeting to go to at around 3pm about this Internet radio thing someone’s setting up.
I think adoa and I will try to put together a show for that. Hopefully it’ll be good. Uhhh… Oh yeah, the software I’m going to buy for backing up is Acronis True Image 8.0. Looks like it should be real good. Then Sunday or Monday I’m going to reinstall everything and make myself a clean image of my system drive. Good times.
If I was a Tagger

This pic reminds me. I have a busy day tomorrow (well, technically today). Game Club, a party at Alleycat’s and some kind of roller boogie are all going down (with E Bro’s friend DJing there). I’ll be sure to capture as much as I can digitally. I also hope I can put the yellow Puma pants to use in the B-Boy circle (assuming there’ll be one).
OK. I best sleep.
A Story About a Bob

I still haven’t got my computer setup the way I want it, but I took a bunch of steps that brought closer to that goal today. Tomorrow I think I’ll be deleting a bunch of files that I don’t want, backing up stuff I do want and I may even format and reinstall everything. I hope so.
At around 6pm I went to see the Chinese medicine doctor. No needles today, but he said he’ll be giving me some Monday. I’ll try to remember to get a picture of how that looks. The way he does it is in a fashion had previously had never seen. He sticks a couple needles in and hooks them up the this electric thing and pumps electricity through you. Feel rather strange.
After the visit with the doc I stopped over a bobs house to get him setup with a blog (so he can let his creative juices flow). I also got him hooked up with Firefox and showed him some other basic computer kung fu techniques. Then we co-wrote a tutorial for using computers. It’ll eventually get deleted, so here’s the original post:

step two

by miltownkid
After that I got home, did some computing, chatted with Macrus for a bit, and now it’s off to bed.
You can see bob’s blog here: http://muvoniks.blogspot.com/
I’ll get a link to it hooked up somewhere eventually.
