Talky Walky

Much to write about probably, but can’t think because I’m talking to Ghost so I can’t think good. My main thing to report is that I got a microphone headset today, which I’m using right now to talk to ghost. So I setup Skype and have been rocking the headset with Paul over MSN (with the webcam going). I like all this global connectivity stuff. I’ll be reporting on that more in the future.
Done for now.
BLOG the movie

I just got back from this Japanese film that was directed by a Taiwanese guy. The film’s name was Cafe Lumiere. I’m still not sure what it was about, but it was definitely different. It really felt like I was watching a blog or a webcam (as Gubo put it). Not much else to report. Chilled at home. Finished the rant on acronyms at forumosa (I’m still writing to Oxford out of curiosity), so I’ll be back to updating the site, reading my books and playing Xbox/PS2.
I didn’t have a co-teacher at work today and things went much more smoothly than they have in the past when I was in situations like that. I was surprised that I kept the kids in line and kept class flowing smoothly all on my own. I kind of liked yelling at the kids in Chinese and English. Fun stuff.
Briefly talked to my brother bummpy today. He was telling me about how cold it was in the MN and I told him about having all the doors and windows open and relaxing in my T-Shirt. I miss snow, but I think I’d rather not have to deal with the cold/snow on the daily than be able to enjoy a day or three of sledding each year.
Mom, here’s Paul’s blog for you (I forgot to send the link). I need to get my links and stuff in order. I’ll just chalk that up as one more thing to do.
All right. G-night.
All play and no work makes miltown a happy kid

I’m not exactly sure what I did Friday and Saturday, but I’m sure it consisted of a healthy amount of Xbox and PCing. I can’t remember what day last week it was, but I met up with Teacher Steve and played some Xbox at his place. I also saw my old co-teacher Grace. That was cool.
Ah, I remember. Saturday I briefly went to our schools Christmas thing and saw some of the parents (and brought “The Star Ninja” home, see below). Then I went for a bike ride with Bu Lai En (a forumosan) along the Jilong (G-Long) river. The rest of Saturday was Xbox/PC fest.
This past Sunday was an important day in miltownkid history. Not only did I receive a kick ass Mario Stage Figure (see below) it was also the beginning of what could be the greatest fight to date. First let’s talk about the Mario stage figure.
Gubo (the man from the donut adventure) picked up this little Mario model from a new toy store that opened up somewhere. After opening it and putting it together we find that Mario is magnetic (I love magnets) allowing you to move him about the 2-D back drop (movie attached at the bottom). Pretty kick ass stuff eh?
I have two names I’m kicking around for this next fight, feel free to leave feedback. I’m thinking either “miltownkid vs The English Language” or “miltownkid vs Oxford”. It all started over a “friendly” game of scrabble. I think it started as a question as to whether OK was an acceptable scrabble word. Some how that discussion got branched of into a discussion about what acronyms and abbreviations are.
One camp said acronyms are only for pronounceable words like; scuba (submerging control unit something or other), laser (lights aren’t sexy elephants right?) and such, and excluded words like html because you don’t pronounce it hitmel or something. If you really care about the whole discussion you can see the forumosa thread here. (We decided OK was not an OK scrabble word).
The short of it is I’ll be contacting Oxford (and maybe others) about this situation and see what we can do to rectify the confusion among the populous.
Today I met Paul for lunch and he showed me a bunch of pictures from a vacation he just got back from, then we looked a digital cameras and video games.
That concludes lesson 17 of miltownkid’s “How to be a playa in 100 days”

The Star Ninja lookin’ all kick ass and shit.

The box

Mario looking all pimp.

Mario a little dazed and confused.
Click here for the movie. [WARNING] It was filmed with my crap cyber shot. Contains obscene amounts of crappylookingness.

I didn’t even get sweaty before the fight was over. Friday morning before school I got this message:
[omitted]@gillette.com to me Dec 17 (1 day ago) December 16, 2004 Mr. [miltownkid], Thanks for visiting our website! We have forwarded your email to the Gillette office in your country. You should receive a local response within 15 business days. If you do not get a reply, please let me know. Thanks again for visiting our site and for your comments! [Gillette Guy]. I was going to post this when I got home, but by the time I got home from school I got this message:
< [Taiwan Gillette Guy]@gillette.com> to me Dec 17 (1 day ago) Dear Mr. [miltownkid], Pls kindly send defective Gillette Shaving Gel back to Taiwan branch office(Adds: 7F, 99, Fu-Hsin N. Rd., Taipei / Tel: 02-27197366) for after service handling. Best regards, Consumer Service / Gillette Taiwan Inc.
They threw in the towel before I even had a chance to throw any hard shots. I think I know who to compare Gillette with with it comes to the ring.
I don’t think I’ll be sending this can in. I’m going to drop by the office and claim my prize (camera in hand of course
).
