Got much done these past two days
December 30th, 2004 § 2 Comments
These last two days have felt like a busy week. I’m signed up for Mandarin classes again now. Got a bunch of reading in my HTML book done. Came up with some new designs and icons for the site (those might come next week). Registered a domain name for my blog (www.miltownkid.com of course). Been working on getting my first potential hosting client working (located at www.taipeisportsbar.com). Turned my computer room/office upside down in an attempt to get organized (I should be done tomorrow).
There was also another battle that went down yesterday. I was working on getting my room cleaned and was attacked by the Star Ninja. Luckily my Lakitu was following me and took snapshots of the whole event. I’ll try to get that up by the weekend.
After I get the room cleaned maybe I’ll put some pics up to inspire my mom
.
That’s about all that comes to mind right now. I’m a little burned out from cleaning all day.

Made it out to the gym today. It’s been almost a month since I’ve been there, but I think I’ll get that going again now. I just did the treadmill for about 30 minutes. I talked to mom for a little bit after school and got her setup with Skype. I also got yelled at for calling the wife “the wife”, so I’ll stick to I Ping or Pingster from now on (or until I convince her that it’s cool saying the wife). Paul (aka adoa) saw my last blog about how cool Skype is so I’m going to go to his house tomorrow to mess around with his settings so we can get it to work properly.
Might as well keep rolling with the Skype ball and tell yall I spoke with my brother for 2 and a half hours with Skype today. He also ended up buying plane tickets and will have feet in Taipei on January 13 (now you’re in the know mom). Not much else to say except I want to sleep.

Posting again while on the phone. If you haven’t installed and setup it up already, do it now. Installed and setup what you ask? Nothing else but Skype of course. I’m not sure if better alternatives exist, but it’d be hard to believe if they do. I’ve chatted through AIM and MSN now and Skype blows them both out of the water. I think the quality of the connection is better than when I’m calling the US using my cellphone. I think I will almost completely stop using my cellphone to call back home and only use the headset-mic and computer. I mentioned this is free right? As long as your going PC-to-PC it’s free. You can also make calls to LAN lines, but there’s a fee for that. That fee is much less than the fee on my cell phone. I’ll honestly be saving a lot of money using this. I wish I set this up earlier.
Today I played a little B-Ball until it got rained out. Went to game club. Our location was busy hosting another event, so I messed around at the Taida soccer field for a little while while waiting for some people to show up. After we got reorganized we went to another venue and had it there.
After the club I had dinner with the wife and her mom. Her mom said she’d teach me Taiwanese when my Mandarin gets a little better. She also told me I should spend more time studying and less time playing B-Ball and chess
.
I’m actually talking to Macrus as I type this. We were using AIM, but I got him to install Skype and it was much clearer.
I’ll report after trying a call back home to my mom to her house pone using Skype and let you know how it goes.
